Zechariah 9:9 (NRSV)
  Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem!
Lo, your king comes to you;
triumphant and victorious is he,
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

From the Pastor:

Dear Members and Friends,

Round Grove United Church, United Church of Christ, will not hold Public Worship Celebrations or any other public events at this time.  The Boards of Deacons and Trustees approved this policy.

It has become clear the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic crisis will continue to get worse before it gets better.  The Governor of Texas has ordered schools closed at least until May 4th, Federal guidance for social distancing has been extended through April, and both the local and national levels of the UCC recommend congregations not hold Public Worship or any other public activities during this time.

With God’s help, safe practices, prayers, and support of one another and Round Grove United Church, UCC, we continue to trust in our Divine Parent’s Loving Presence and the Hope we have in our Lord Jesus Christ.

May God keep us all safe and guide our daily lives,
Rev. Dr. Byron S. Wells, Pastor

For Sunday, Mar 29, 2020:

Greetings to Round Grove Members and Friends!

We offer you this opportunity to connect with your church family in worship through our YouTube videos. For families with children, please take note of the link for a Deep Blue at home Sunday Sunday lesson.

Public worship may be canceled, but “church” is not canceled. As the song goes, “We Are the Church.” “The  church is not a building,” “a steeple,” or “a resting place.” “The church is a people.”

Dear Friends,

Much continues to happen with reference to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.  Since Round Grove United Church, United Church of Christ, is not holding any of our activities on Sunday, March 29th, I attached to this email a PDF of the Sermon for March 29, 2020.  Using the links above, you can watch Sunday’s worship and are invited to share the links with others.

In the Worship Celebration, there is a moment when you are invited to give your tithes and offerings through the use of the Breeze online giving program.  There is no charge to you to use that process to make your donations.  You may make use of that opportunity by following the link: <roundgroveucc.breezechms.com/give/online>.  Although giving by credit card is the first option indicated, you can click on the dropdown box to make an ACH bank transfer.

In my telephone conversations with some of our more potentially vulnerable members, I am happy to report they are doing fine.  I am aware of some concerns related to other members or family members who have been exposed to or who are in danger of having the coronavirus.  Mary and Grady Quick have moved to Washington state, so they will have more family support as they deal with Grady’s illness.  I also learned former member Evelyn Hopson recently fell and broke her hip and has declined surgery.

As I wrote previously, it is easy to fall into depression and despair.  As a church family, the members and friends of Round Grove United Church continue to provide prayers, comfort, and support to one another.  Let us continue to reach out to one another, especially to those who are more vulnerable to illness and isolation.  We are people who belong to the Bread of Life – Jesus Christ!  Keep that faith and relationship alive as part of the Round Grove United Church, United Church of Christ Family.  Seek God’s Guidance and Trust in our Divine Parent’s Comfort and Protection!
