greeting april 2015

Round Grove United Church UCC (United Church of Christ) WELCOMES you! Everyone is invited to share in our activities. We recognize all Christians as being part of the church – the Body of Christ. We expect everyone to continue to grow in their faith relationships with God based on their previous faith experiences. Thus, everyone can remain true to her or his beliefs, while being united in Worship, Education and Service. We celebrate our unity through our diversity.

Children are always welcome in Worship! We do have a Nursery available for the loving care of babies and young children. The Worship Celebration can be heard in the Nursery. We have Worship Bags available for children to use during the Worship Celebration.

Children, who are 6th grade and younger, are invited to leave the service for our quality Children’s Choir Activities following the Children’s & Student’s Moment. The Children’s Choirs return to the sanctuary during the Closing Hymn.

All persons, who believe in and follow Jesus Christ, are invited to share in the sacrament of Holy Communion  (the Lord’s Supper). Communion is usually celebrated during the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. The bread and cup are distributed in the pews and they are eaten or drunk by everyone at the same time.

Everyone is invited to sing the hymns, responses and join together in the Passing of the Peace. Hymns are in the hymnals found in the pew rack and the selection numbers are printed in the Worship Bulletin on the right hand side. The hymn text is also projected on the screen – as is all of the texts.

Special Worship Celebrations include: Maundy Thursday Worship Celebration (the Thursday before Easter), the Easter Sunrise Celebration in the Original Historic Building, and the Christmas Eve Candlelight Altar Communion Celebration.
We celebrate infant dedication and baptism, adult baptism, and the Rite of Confirmation.

There is no special class to become a member of Round Grove United Church UCC, and we accept full membership or associate memberships. Confirmation classes for youth are generally scheduled during their 7th grade year providing there are at least three eligible students. The classes are taught by Pastor Wells. Members, Friends and Guests are always welcome to attend Sunday School, Worship, and Fellowship activities!

During the Summer, Round Grove United Church UCC provides outreach to the community through Christian Community Action’s “Kids Eat Free” program. Members and friends gather at the lunch site 2 days a week to distribute lunches and Christian Education packets. Our Outreach includes sponsoring Back to School and other giving programs throughout the summer and fall. In the Summer, we collect backpacks, school supplies, or clothing for students.  During the Holiday season, we accept donations of non-perishable food items for CCA Holiday Food Baskets. The Congregation also supports the CCA Giving Tree program at Christmas. Throughout the year members and friends sign up to provide financial support for the CCA Food Pantry Shelf project.

The Congregation began on Epiphany (January 6) 1901 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2001 with celebrations over several months. In 2011, the Congregation celebrated the 110th anniversary culminating with an Anniversary Celebration in May. The Historic Original Building on the south side of Round Grove Road is still used by the congregation for Easter Sunrise Services and is used for many weddings a year. The Round Grove Cemetery is behind the Historical Original Building.
